Actually this question of mine is less of for the script but more of for a hosting problem, I want to know that for serving atleast 1000 simultaneously downloads without crashing what must be the minimum server specifications, One more questions that i have is that I m planing to setup the script in the way that for script, database and adminitration management i would use a shared hosting and for uploading and downloading files I plan to use dedicated servers , so my question is that when a user uploads a file through any of the option is the file directly copied to the secondary server or is it copied on the localserver and then sent to the secondary server, last but not the least I wanna know that If i buy script from yabsoft, will there be any support from you side regarding the setup of the script and setting up of the secondary server. Waiting for the reply, Thank you.

First, the files will be sent to the secondery server directly. But when users try to download the file, he will be sent to the download page on main server where you can place your site AD. When users click "download" on download page, he will actually fetch the file from remote secondery servers.

It is better to have both servers - main server and secondery server use dedicated servers. The upload of mega files will take much resources as the file download.

We provide forum and email support. And a detailed instruction on How to setup secondery server! (http://yabsoft.com/forum/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=1135) can be found on our Document&Tutorials! (http://yabsoft.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=32)

For your '1000 simultaneously downloads' question, I have not made such tests myself. So I can't give you a detailed answer. Maybe our clients can give you some advices.

Forget the words "shared hosting".

1000 downloads at the same time... hmm. Should work with this:

1 x Extra-High performance server for MySQL db.
10 x Medium performance server (with loads of RAM) for the actual fileservers.

This would in theory allow 1000 downloads at the same time at the speed of 1Mbit for each download. And remember to get a good deal on your bandwidth, as you will be pushing 100MB/s (1Gbit). Thats 267,84TB each month.

But hey, you say you are new to this business.. How in the world are you going to get 1000 downloads at the same time?

Good luck

even if i m new to the buisness but I am old in the field of file sharing, if me or any of my friend uploads a file on my system and then shares it on 5-6 high traffic forum then I can expect atleast 200-400 people starting that file download almost instantaneously, and if so happens than I may end up with server crashing or bottle neck or dont know any other problem. Moreover as this is not a high output, big revenue generating system, so i cant even invest much in the starting to risk myself.

http was NOT designed with large free file hosting in mind... that's what FTP is for..

two servers? that's going to be an unpleasant experience for all.
